How to

Step by step
  1. Glide straight down a gentle slope at low to medium speed.

Keep your eyes a little ahead in your direction of travel, bend both knees softly (about 30 degrees), and keep your hips centered over the middle of the board.

  2. Shift your weight onto the ball of your front foot to make the area near the nose your pivot point, and relax your back foot so the tail goes light.

Avoid leaning too far forward: set your hips right over your front foot (around the heel-to-arch) to build your base, then concentrate the pressure on the toe side so the pivot stays steady.

  3. Turn your upper body (chest and belly button) toward your spin direction first, then a beat later push the tail around with your light back foot to swing the board 180 degrees.

Keep your arms tucked close to your body and don't swing them, since spreading your arms bleeds off your spin momentum and throws your balance.

  4. As the board passes sideways, shift your weight to the ball of your back foot before it stops, making the area near the tail your next pivot point.

Switching your weight here is the key to spinning continuously, so keep your upper body turning the same way without pausing.

  5. Push the now-light nose around in the same direction to finish the last 180 degrees, completing 360 degrees back to your normal stance.

To finish, bend both knees again and bring your hips back to the center of the board to absorb the load and stop.

Tips

Lead with your arms and upper body and never stop turning. The spin comes from your upper-body twist feeding into the board, so if you stop twisting, the board stops too.

COMMON MISTAKE

The board stalls on the second half → you're swapping feet only after fully finishing the first 180, so the momentum dies. Start shifting onto the ball of your back foot just before the board passes sideways to keep it flowing.
