How to
Step by stepGlide straight down a gentle slope at a steady speed, a touch faster than walking.
Moving keeps the board stable and gives you room to correct your balance while spinning.
Set up with both knees softly bent (about 120-130°) and your hips neutral.
Keep your eyes on a point a few meters ahead in the direction of travel.
Shift your weight gradually onto the heel-to-ball line of your back foot and slide your hips directly over that back foot.
The nose lifts and the tail flexes, pressing into the snow. That flex stores the spring that will push the board back later.
Holding the nose at that height, lead with your chest, belly button, and both arms toward the way you want to spin.
Keep your lower body (hips and down) held back for a beat so only your upper body turns first. Your upper and lower body wind up against each other like a coiled spring.
Release the back foot and let your held hips go.
The stored twist and the board's spring unwind together, and the board starts turning around the tail. You make the spin with this upper-body lead and the spring releasing, not by cranking the board around with your hands.
Once it starts turning, pull your arms in close to your body to stay compact.
Tucked in, you spin faster on the same amount of momentum than you would with your arms spread out.
When you reach the angle you want, settle weight back onto your back foot to stop the tail's rotation, then slide your hips back to center slowly to release into a normal stance.
Bring it down gently so the nose doesn't drop and catch.
Tips & common mistakes
In the app — learn while you logBuild the spin while the board is still on the snow, using your upper body. Turning your chest and belly button first, then releasing the lower body, takes far less effort than trying to crank the board around by hand.
Sitting back onto your tail → your hips have slid past the back foot. Stop your hips directly over the back foot and use your arms, not more lean, to balance.
