How to

Step by step
  1. On a gentle-to-moderate slope, start carving at a steady speed that is fast enough not to stall.

Stay balanced 50:50 over your front and back feet, with knees bent to about 70-80 degrees and slightly sunk. This stance is the reference position you return to for entering and exiting every trick.

  2. About 3-4 meters before the spot where you'll pop the next trick, send your eyes ahead to that spot.

In a combo, looking at the next location while still finishing one trick keeps the motion from lagging behind and the line from breaking up.

  3. Throw the first trick.

For a tail press, shift your weight back onto your back foot, over the tail, to lift the nose; for an ollie, pop off your back foot. The body mechanics for each trick are the same as the standalone version, but always pass through the reference stance (knees 70-80 degrees, 50:50) just before you start, so every trick launches from the same conditions and stays consistent.

  4. As you exit the trick, return to 50:50 loading before you let any tension out, and re-sink your knees to the 70-80 degree reference.

Use this sinking to pull a forward-biased press weight, or leftover upper-body rotation, back to center.

  5. Holding that stance, carve just 1-2 turns to let the board run and recover speed.

You tend to slow right after a trick, so drive your weight to the downhill side here and take a deeper turn to make up the lost momentum.

  6. Once speed is back, return to step 2 and go into the next trick.

Mixing families each time (press → spin → jump) spreads the load across different muscles and weight positions so your movement doesn't dull by the end. Use the slope top to bottom and link 3-5 tricks seamlessly into one line.

Tips

The connecting carve is not a rest section but a setup section for the next trick. Returning to 50:50 and 70-80 degree knees every time lets every trick start from the same reference stance and resets the weight that each trick threw off.

COMMON MISTAKE

Gaps between tricks so it doesn't read as a combo → usually too much connecting carve, or standing up to rest after a trick. As you exit, immediately sink to 50:50 and 70-80 degree knees, keep the carve to 1-2 turns, and go straight into the next trick.
