How to

Step by step
  1. Ride a medium-pitch slope with enough speed to flex the board.

On gentle terrain the board barely springs back when you press it, so you won't get much height.

  2. Keeping your eyes 3-5m ahead in your direction of travel, bend both knees and drop your hips.

Aim for roughly a 90° knee bend, tip your shins forward, load the balls of your feet (the pad behind your big toes), and let your weight bend the whole board slightly.

  3. From that low stance, extend your hips and knees together to stand straight up.

As you rise, briefly unweight your front foot so the nose (front) lifts.

  4. As the nose starts to rise, shift your weight quickly over your back foot and press down through the ball and heel of your back foot to drive the tail (back) down.

The board, bent and trying to snap back, pushes you upward the instant you stamp on it.

  5. When the tail snaps and you leave the ground, bend both knees and pull your feet up under you.

The more you tuck your legs, the higher the board rides.

  6. At the peak, straighten your spine and stay compact with both knees tucked so your body doesn't break apart in the air.

  7. Spot your landing, extend your legs to bring the board down, and bend your knees and ankles on touchdown to absorb the impact.

Landing with straight legs strains the joints.

Tips

Two things make this go higher than a normal ollie: sinking deep to flex the board, and moving fast from front-foot unweight to back-foot stamp. Press too slowly and you lose the board's spring.

COMMON MISTAKE

No height → too shallow a crouch, so the board never flexes. Bend your knees to about 90°, load the balls of your feet to flex the board once, then stamp.
