How to

Step by step
  1. Start on an intermediate or steeper slope with a bit more speed than your Sone 360.

The extra rotation needs more momentum and more room.

  2. Set into a tail press: bend your back-foot knee deeply (about 90-100 degrees), draw your hips directly over your back foot, and put about 80% of your weight toward the heel of the back foot to lift the nose.

The back half of the board now bows down and stores spring, like a pressed-down board waiting to snap back.

  3. While the board is loaded, lightly wind your upper body the opposite way, toward your toes (against the direction you'll spin).

Like twisting a rubber band the wrong way before letting go, this pre-wind becomes your starting spin speed. Begin sending your eyes over your back shoulder toward the heel side (the BS direction).

  4. The instant the board wants to spring back, extend your back foot to pop off the tail and unwind your upper body sharply toward the heel side (BS).

The board's rebound lifts you, and the stored snap plus your upper-body opening start the spin off the tail as your last contact.

  5. Once you're turning, pull both arms in to your chest and tuck your shoulders and hips into a thin line.

Your spin speed is set the moment you leave the snow and can't be added in the air, so the tighter you make yourself, the faster you rotate on the same momentum. Shift your weight from tail toward center so the tail doesn't catch.

  6. In the BS direction your back leads and the scenery disappears for a moment (the blind phase).

Keep your head and eyes turning, don't freeze them. After 1.5 rotations, once you spot the switch landing line, stop your opening arms to brake the spin.

  7. Land in a switch stance, bending both knees to absorb the impact.

At touchdown keep your weight near center or slightly toward the front foot and match the board flat to the snow so an edge doesn't bite suddenly.

Tips & common mistakes

Tips

The deeper you bow the tail, the stronger the rebound, so you get height and spin more easily. If your hips aren't over your back foot the bow stays shallow, so build a precise, deep tail press first.

COMMON MISTAKE

You stall at 360 -> the upper-body pre-wind was shallow so your starting spin was too low, or your head lead stopped partway. -> Wind your upper body firmly toward the toes to load it, then open, and keep sending your eyes toward the heel side without freezing.
