Ski 50-50.

1. Line up square to the box, pick a low one, and approach in a straight line.

   Keep your speed slow but steady, just enough to keep rolling.

2. Just before the lip, press through the whole soles of both feet and pop a small ollie.

   This keeps your tips from catching on the edge of the box as you ride up.

3. The moment you land on it, set both skis parallel to the rails about shoulder width apart.

   Lightly squeeze your inner thighs so the skis stay together.

4. Balance your weight evenly over the whole foot, right under the arch, and keep the skis dead flat.

   Don't tip toward your toes or your heels. A box slides more than snow, so even a slight edge will catch and throw you forward.

5. Bend both knees slightly and stack your hips right over the skis.

   Keep your spine fairly upright so your head never gets ahead of your toes.

6. Keep your eyes on the exit (the far end) of the box.

   Looking down drops your head, tips you forward, and shifts your weight onto your toes.

7. Hold your poles close to your sides with elbows tucked, and keep the baskets from touching the box.

8. At the exit, either ride straight off or press both feet for a small ollie to come off.

   Soak up the landing with your knees.
