How to
Step by stepAssuming a regular stance turning left (backside), head straight down groomed snow on a medium slope at a slightly quicker pace.
Aim for the same straight-line speed you'd use to land a clean Nollie 720, or one notch faster. This speed becomes your air time and sets how long you have to complete the two and a half rotations.
Before you pop, wind up by twisting your upper body slightly against the spin (for backside, bring your right shoulder forward).
Point your chest and belly button a touch right of your direction of travel, bend both knees deeply to 100-110 degrees, and drop your hips low over the center of the board. Unwinding this twist gives the spin its starting speed.
Snap your wound-up upper body in the spin direction (left).
At the same moment, drive the ball of your front foot (the nose-side foot) down hard onto the nose and pop off the loaded, springy nose. Let your shoulders and arms lead the pop by a split second so you collect spin before the board leaves the snow.
Once airborne, pull both knees toward your chest and hug your arms in front of your chest to make yourself as small and round as possible.
The spin is already set the instant you pop and you can't add to it in the air. The more compact you tuck your arms and legs, the faster you rotate on the same momentum. Keep your spine stacked straight up and shrink along it, without leaning, to hold a clean axis.
Keep your eyes hunting the direction you're spinning toward, letting your head lead your body to find the landing early (spotting).
Because it's two and a half spins, you'll catch the switch direction of travel one last half-rotation before you land.
With about a half-rotation left, slowly open your tucked arms and knees to slow the spin, and land in a switch stance pointed straight down the fall line.
Bend both knees to absorb the impact.
Tips & common mistakes
In the app — learn while you logYou must have Nollie 720 dialed in both directions first. Two and a half spins is a half-rotation more than the 720, demanding another step up in both air time and rotation speed.
Under-rotating and unable to land switch → either the pop, the upper-body throw, or the in-air tuck is weak, leaving the spin too slow → wind up deeper before takeoff, finish your shoulder rotation right as you pop, and the instant you're airborne yank your knees and arms tight to your core to get small.
