How to
Step by step[Required] Wear a helmet and back protector, and learn this first into an airbag or water ramp where the landing is safe.
Prerequisites: you can land FS Rodeo 540 every time with a grab, and you have spun a full FS 720 before
Choose a large kicker and skate into the approach with plenty of speed, a notch faster than for FS Rodeo 540.
All of your spin is set the instant you leave the lip and cannot be added in the air, so coming in too slow means you will not finish two rotations
Just before the lip, avoid sitting hard on your heel (heel) edge: keep the board close to flat and load evenly from the balls of your feet to your heels.
Look out past the lip in the direction of travel
At takeoff, stamp and pop hard off the nose of the board with your front (right) foot while driving your left (rear) shoulder back into the FS direction.
At the same time tip your chin and head slightly back and up. This 'wrap with the shoulder + send the head back' is what creates the tilted, slightly inverted axis and the FS horizontal spin together. Make the shoulder drive bigger and faster than for FS Rodeo 540
The moment the board leaves the snow, pull both knees to your chest to make your body small and tuck both arms in close.
The more you gather your limbs toward your center, the faster you spin for the same amount of momentum, so you can complete both rotations in time. Tuck noticeably tighter than you would to bring around the 1.5 rotations of a 540
Through the first rotation, look up at the sky (or up the slope) and let your eyes pull the spin around.
If your body extends here the spin stalls, so hold the tight tuck you set at takeoff
Late in the second rotation, once you can see the landing slope below your feet, open your tucked knees and arms and lengthen your body.
Getting big slows the spin, which stops you from over-rotating and lets you square the board to the landing
Stay in your regular stance, match the whole base to the slope and land on both feet at once, bending both knees deeply to absorb the impact.
Shift slightly onto your front foot and ride away
Tips & common mistakes
In the app — learn while you logYour spin is set in the single instant of takeoff. Build the starting speed with three things: a faster approach, a bigger kicker, and a bigger shoulder drive than for a 540, so you are not scrambling to spin in the air
The spin stalls at 1.5 rotations (the 540 position) → not enough starting speed off the lip. The approach is too slow or the shoulder drive too small. Set up to spin a full 720 from the start, raise your speed and shoulder drive a notch, and build the momentum at takeoff rather than in the air
