How to

Step by step
  1. Always wear a helmet and back protector, and learn this into an airbag first.

A failed attempt drops you head-first at the worst possible angle, so this step is not optional

  2. Only attempt this once you land BS Rodeo 540 every time and have already made a flat-spin BS 720.

That lets you focus the new learning on just two things: enough spin to finish the extra half rotation, and holding your shape through a long blind window

  3. Understand what the trick is.

A BS rodeo spins backside on a slightly tilted axis while flipping once; here you add a half rotation (180 degrees) to make it two full rotations (720 degrees), riding away in regular stance

  4. Use a large kicker with enough speed to clear the lip and reach the landing slope.

You need air time for two rotations, so carry enough speed to fly past the table

  5. On the approach ride lightly on your heel edge with your torso slightly forward, and just before takeoff wind your shoulders and arms once in the opposite direction of the backside spin.

This loads like winding a spring; releasing it as you unweight makes the rotation start faster

  6. At the lip, throw your loaded shoulders hard in the backside direction and start dropping your head down and back at the same time.

Swing the shoulders and send the head more than you do for a BS Rodeo 540. All your spin is set the instant you leave the lip and cannot be added in the air, so create both rotations right here

  7. Once airborne, pull your knees to your chest and hug both arms in front of your body to make yourself as small as possible.

The smaller you tuck, the faster you spin for the same effort, which shortens the time you spend blind to the landing. Tuck harder than you would for a 540

  8. After clearing the blind side of the first rotation, do not open up; stay tucked and keep spinning into the extra half rotation.

The blind window is long, so the goal is to shorten that window itself with rotation speed

  9. When the landing slope comes into view below you near the end of the second rotation, release the knee and arm tuck and open your body.

Opening slows the spin so rotation stops, letting you land on both feet in regular stance

  10. Land with deeply bent knees, weight centered over both feet so the board comes down flat, and absorb the impact with your knees

Tips & common mistakes

Tips

The spin axis is a diagonal mix of a backward flip and a backside spin. Treat it as an extension of the axis you already feel on BS Rodeo 540, just adding the half rotation, so you do not have to learn a new sensation from scratch

COMMON MISTAKE

Your body breaks down during the long blind window → the spin is too slow and the blind time drags out → increase the shoulder swing and head drop at takeoff, and tuck the knees and arms one notch harder in the air to raise spin speed. Use the airbag to get used to the blind time
