How to
Step by stepOnly try this once your WJ BS180 lands consistently.
Take a steady medium approach — fast enough not to stall — staying centered over the board all the way to the lip, eyes on the lip ahead.
Just before the lip, load by bending your hips and knees slightly, then extend both knees to pop up off the lip.
At the same moment shift your weight onto your heel (heelside) edge and ride slightly over your heels as you launch backside.
On that same pop, start the spin by winding your upper body toward your back.
Riding regular (left foot forward), pull your right shoulder back and send your left shoulder forward; riding goofy (right foot forward), pull your left shoulder back. All of your spin speed is set the instant you leave the lip — you can't add to it in the air — so make that shoulder wind clear and big.
Once airborne, keep both arms close to your body and tuck both knees up to make yourself small.
The more you pull your arms and legs in, the faster you turn on the same amount of spin. Through the blind, back-facing part of the rotation, lead with your chin over your back shoulder so your eyes find the landing early.
Once you pass 270 degrees and can see your landing, extend your knees a little and open up to slow the spin.
Bring the board flat to the water and land on both feet at once, flat-footed. As you touch down, bend both knees deeply (around 90 to 120 degrees) to soak up the impact with your legs.
Tips & common mistakes
In the app — learn while you logKeep your heelside takeoff clean. A water-jump brush surface grabs harder than snow, so if the edge catches suddenly you'll lose your balance. Holding steady weight over your heels keeps the takeoff smooth.
Spin stalls at 270 and you land sideways → the shoulder wind off the lip was too small, so you didn't build enough spin to start with. Make the pull of your back shoulder bigger and start the upper body turning first.
