How to
Step by stepTry this only once your WJ straight jump (fly straight, land on your feet) is solid.
Adding a spin makes the landing harder, so you need that base first.
Approach at a steady speed that doesn't stall, skis together, knees slightly bent in a low stance.
Keep your eyes on the lip (the take-off edge) ahead.
Just before take-off, turn your shoulders and face a touch toward the way you want to spin to pre-load the rotation.
Don't turn your body yet.
At the top of the lip, extend both legs and pop straight up, and at that instant send your face and shoulders the way you want to spin.
Lead with the upper body and your hips and legs follow, carrying you through the half rotation. Let your eyes track around to the landing.
In the air, keep both skis together and tuck your knees up to make yourself compact.
The smaller you make yourself, the easier you spin on the same momentum and the less you wobble.
Once you've spun halfway and you're now facing the other way (switch), the tail of your skis is leading.
Keep your feet about shoulder width and bend your knees so you can absorb the impact.
Land on your feet with the skis angled slightly (tail-down) into the water.
Landing flat slaps the surface and hits hard, so slide the tails in first. Keep your eyes forward (the direction you're now traveling switch) and your upper body upright.
After landing, pop your skis off, float up, and head to the pool edge.
Tips & common mistakes
In the app — learn while you logPre-turning your shoulders and face slightly before take-off means a simple upper-body send at the pop finishes the half spin. Start turning before the pop and you over-rotate; start after and you come up short.
Landing sideways from under-rotation → you start the spin too late after the pop, or spread your limbs and slow it down. Pre-turn the shoulders and face before take-off, and tuck the knees compact in the air. On days you can't finish it, go back to straight jumps for safety.
