How to

Step by step
  1. First be able to land in the same spot every time on basic trampoline jumps, and have a feel for FS360 (a forward-facing full spin) so you already know how your body orients in the air.

BS360 hides the landing surface partway through, so build that air awareness with the forward spin first.

  2. Bounce straight up off the center, as high as you can.

Push the bed down with both feet at once using the whole boot rather than your toes, and take the rebound. Any sideways drift moves your landing off center, so nail "straight up" first.

  3. Start the spin on the way up, before the peak.

BS means turning so your back leads the direction of travel. If you spin to the left, pull your left shoulder back and send your chin over your left shoulder, looking for the bed (your landing) behind you. Keep your arms folded lightly across your chest and let your whole upper body follow the shoulder. The amount of spin you carry is set during takeoff and the rise to the peak; you cannot add to it in the air.

  4. Past halfway (180 degrees) the trampoline drops out of sight for a moment.

Here pull both knees up toward your chest and bring your arms in, making your body compact. The smaller you are, the faster you spin for the same effort, so you whip quickly through the blind section.

  5. Around three-quarters (270 degrees) the bed comes into view in the direction your chin already turned.

Once you see it, extend both knees back down and open your arms to make your body large again. Spreading out slows the spin, settling you to a speed that stops right at 360 degrees.

  6. Plant both feet flat (whole boot) back in the center at the same time.

As you land, bring your eyes back to the front and stop your upper body from over-rotating, so your axis stays upright and you don't get pulled backward.

Tips

Build all your spin from takeoff to the peak. You can't add spin in the air, so if you try to crank it after the peak you'll run out of time. Start pulling the shoulder early.

COMMON MISTAKE

The spin stalls in the blind section → you stayed long instead of tucking, so you rotate slowly. Past 180 degrees, pull both knees to your chest and bring the arms in to whip through quickly.
