Ski Brush Carving.

1. First, you should already have a stable parallel turn (both skis kept side by side) on snow.

   Start on a gentle slope at a slow, steady speed that doesn't stall you.

2. Before the turn, send your eyes toward where you're heading.

   Brush (artificial turf) grabs the edge more abruptly than snow, so don't tip in hard at first. At entry, let the edge just lightly graze the surface.

3. As the turn begins, drive both knees toward the inside of the turn to tip the skis up onto their edges.

   Turning right, your left ski is the outside ski; turning left, the right ski is the outside ski. Tip from the knees down toward the inside while keeping your upper body upright and facing down the hill.

4. The sides of the skis are already cut with a gentle curve (sidecut).

   When you set the edge and load it, the ski naturally bends along that curve. Don't skid the tails out to turn — keep the edge carving and let the ski arc on its own.

5. At the deepest point of the arc, press firmly through the arch-to-heel of the outside foot.

   Aim for about 70–80% on the outside ski, 20–30% on the inside. Don't lift the inside ski; let it lightly touch the brush to support your balance.

6. In the second half of the turn, straighten the knees to release the edges, then move your upper body and hips from the uphill side across to the downhill side so your body crosses to the inside of the next turn.

   This body change rolls you onto the new edges naturally.

7. At the switch, picture your head and hips dropping toward the downhill side first.

   The edges then change a beat later, and one arc links smoothly into the next.
