Tail Roll.

How to
Step by stepDrop into the powder at a slow-to-moderate, never-stalling speed, riding at an angle to the fall line.
A gentle-to-moderate pitch is easiest; if you slow to a near-stop the board buries and won't spin.
Choose your spin direction first and send your eyes that way.
Looking toward where you want to end up (roughly across or slightly behind you) lets your head, shoulders, and hips follow in that order, which starts the rotation.
Bend both knees deeply to 80-100 degrees and sink your hips, shifting your weight onto the heel side of your back foot so the load sits about 70-80% back, 20-30% front.
The tail sinks into the snow and becomes your pivot point.
Once you feel the tail sink, swing your upper body (shoulders and arms) toward your spin direction first, then let your hips follow a beat later.
The board chases your leading upper body, and the nose begins to swing sideways around the planted tail.
Lighten the nose by lifting your front foot slightly while keeping your arm swing going through the turn.
Pulling your arms in toward your chest makes you compact and spin faster; leaving them out slows you down, so open or close them to match how far you want to come around.
As the board reaches the direction you want to ride, finish turning your hips and return your eyes downhill.
Quickly rebalance from 70-80% back to 50:50, set the nose back on the snow, and absorb the landing with both knees as you ride away.
Tips & common mistakes
In the app — learn while you logA back-weighted stance is the basic powder-float position, so this rolls more stably than a nose-pivot version. Leaning forward drives the nose under the snow and pitches you over the front.
The tail sinks too far, the board stalls and won't turn → too slow, or hips stay high with all your weight dumped straight back instead of bending the knees → keep a never-stalling speed and limit the back load to about 70-80% so the tail doesn't bury.
