Spray Turn.

1. Drop into a gentle-to-medium powder slope at a steady, controlled speed that keeps you moving but never gets away from you.

   The deeper the fresh snow, the easier the spray comes up, so pick an untracked line.

2. Bend both knees to about 50-60 degrees in a low stance and look down the fall line toward where you want to go.

   Ride slightly nose-heavy, around 7 front foot to 3 back foot, so the board grips the snow without floating up too much.

3. Late in the turn, stand up and extend slightly to unweight the board (lift your body weight off it).

   The board changes direction far more easily the instant the weight comes off.

4. Right after unweighting, drive your knees back down hard.

   Push into the ball of your front foot and toes for a toe-edge cut, or into both heels for a heel-edge cut. The edge shoves snow forward and to the side, and that push throws a fan of snow into the air.

5. Don't stab the push all at once.

   Keep pressing through the whole turn arc with the full edge. Sending your weight toward the tail (back) lets the back of the board scoop snow, sending the spray higher.

6. To link the next turn, extend the loaded leg to unweight again, turn your hips toward the new direction, and roll onto the opposite edge.

   Alternating unweight-then-press left and right makes the spray fly turn after turn.
