How to
Step by stepBefore you drop in, slide your bindings to the rearmost mounting holes (setback).
This puts the board's pivot under your back foot so the nose (front) lifts more easily.
Pick a slope of medium pitch or steeper where you keep moving.
On gentle terrain the deep snow drags you to a stop and the board sinks and buries, unlike on groomed runs.
Once moving, set your weight roughly 35-40 front foot : 60-65 back foot, and bend your knees to about 70-80 degrees with your hips down.
Loading the back foot lifts the nose slightly so the whole base planes across the snow.
Draw your hips just slightly back to keep the nose floating, but keep your upper body upright -> don't lean back and arch your spine.
Leaning back dumps all your weight on the back foot, your calf tires fast, and you can't switch turns.
Look 5-10 meters ahead in your direction of travel, not straight down at the board.
Looking close makes your body shrink up and triggers jerky moves that sink the board.
Make turns with a larger, longer arc than on groomed snow, and shift both feet together slowly.
Forcing the board to change direction in deep snow drives the base into the snow and stalls you, so roll into turns with smooth weight transfer.
Keep a steady medium speed throughout.
Enough speed creates lift that keeps the board floating on top of the snow instead of sinking.
Tips & common mistakes
In the app — learn while you logRiding the back foot means leaning your weight onto the rear half of the board, not falling backward. Pull only your hips back while keeping your chest facing downhill, so the nose floats and you keep your turning control.
The nose dives and you stop dead -> not enough weight on the back foot, so the nose never lifted -> press through the ball of your back foot and draw your hips a bit further back to raise the nose.
